5 Ways Women in Round Hill and Purcellville, VA Can Stay Active and Healthy in Their Busy Lives

Hi, I’m Renee, and as a coach and fellow resident of Round Hill, Virginia, I know how challenging it can be to balance staying active with everything else life throws at us. Between careers, family, and the general busyness of life, prioritizing your health can easily fall to the bottom of the list. But the good news is, there are so many ways you can stay active and healthy here in Round Hill—even if your schedule feels overwhelming.

I’m excited to share five ways you can incorporate more fitness and wellness into your life, right here in our local community.

1. Explore Local Hiking Trails Near Round Hill

One of the things I love most about Round Hill is the abundance of beautiful outdoor spaces. If you’re feeling stressed or short on time, heading outside for a hike or even a short walk is a great way to stay active while recharging mentally.

My Local Favorites:

  • The Appalachian Trail: We’re so lucky to have this incredible trail nearby. It’s perfect for a challenging hike if you want to really push yourself or enjoy some peaceful solitude.

  • Sleeter Lake Park: If you prefer something gentler, Sleeter Lake Park offers beautiful scenery for walking around or even paddleboarding or kayaking.

  • Franklin Park: Just a quick drive from Round Hill, Franklin Park is another favorite of mine, offering trails and plenty of open space to get moving. There's also an extensive golf frisbee course.

Taking time for yourself outdoors, even for 30 minutes, can work wonders for your physical and mental health. Plus, you’ll be connecting with the natural beauty we have here in Round Hill!

2. Join a Local Fitness Group or Class

If you need extra motivation (or just don’t want to work out alone!), joining a fitness class or small group is a great way to stay active. I’ve seen firsthand how the camaraderie of group training helps women stay committed and inspired to reach their goals.

Local Fitness Options::

  • Small Group Training at Kinetic Women’s Wellness: I run small group sessions designed specifically for women in Round Hill and the surrounding area who want to work on their fitness goals with the support of a coach and a community. You’ll get personalized attention while training with other motivated women.

  • Yoga: If you’re looking for a little more relaxation and flexibility work, local yoga classes are a fantastic way to de-stress while strengthening your body.

  • Round Hill Aquatic Center: For a low-impact option, the aquatic center offers swim classes or open swim times, which are great for gentle but effective workouts.

Working out in a group keeps you accountable, and it’s a lot more fun when you’re doing it with friends!

3. Shop at Local Farm and Markets for Fresh, Nutritious Food

You’ve probably heard the saying, “you can’t out-train a bad diet,” and it’s true! Eating well is just as important as staying active, and thankfully, Round Hill offers access to local farms and markets where you can stock up on fresh, wholesome ingredients.

Some great places to check out:

  • Great Country Farms: Just a little bit down the road, this is the perfect spot to pick up fresh veggies, fruits, and local products. Plus, shopping here supports our community farm. An added bonus is entrance to the farm will get the whole family active.

I always recommend focusing on whole, nutrient-dense foods that give you the energy to stay active and feel your best. Plus, shopping at local markets makes it easy to eat fresh and seasonal produce.

4. Participate in Local Events and 5K Walks/Runs

Sometimes, staying active is more fun when it’s tied to a community event. Getting involved in local activities is a great way to get friends and family together, and Round Hill has plenty of events to keep you moving—whether it’s a 5K, a fitness challenge, or even a community festival.

Local Events to Check Out:

  • Round Hill Hometown Festival: This annual event is a blast, and it usually includes a 5k that's perfect for families or individuals looking to stay active.

  • Dirt Farm Pre-Turkey Hill Climb: A local favorite! Grab the family before the feast to climb Dirt Farm's Hill. They also have hiking trails to explore. Bonus: The view! This event is something to be grateful for!

  • MudGirl: This one is a bit of a trek, but it is held annually within an hour and a half of our area and is totally worth it! Gather a team- my friends and I bring our daughters- and prepare to get messy, feel strong and have fun! People from all backgrounds and fitness levels are welcome and the support is very positive. You will not regret trying it!

Participating in these events not only helps you stay active but also connects you with others in the community. Plus, you’ll have fun while working toward your fitness goals.

5. Stay Active with At-Home Workouts or Online Coaching

As someone who understands the challenges of balancing a busy schedule, I know how hard it can be to carve out time for yourself. That’s why I always encourage my clients to consider online coaching or quick cardio workouts when life gets hectic.

What Works for Me and My Clients:

  • Online Coaching with Kinetic Women’s Wellness: I offer personalized online coaching for women who need flexibility. You can work out at home, at the gym, or wherever is most convenient for you—on your schedule. I’ll guide you every step of the way with customized plans that fit your lifestyle.

  • 15-Minute Bodyweight Workout: On those really busy days, a short workout is better than none. Bodyweight exercises like squats, lunges, and planks can be done in 15 minutes and still make a big difference.

  • A quick walk: If you can, try squeezing in a walk while you're at the park for kid's sport practice or loop the neighborhood while on a call for work. It's a simple way to keep your body moving!

Staying active doesn’t have to be complicated. Even a few minutes of movement each day can make a huge difference in how you feel!
